I picked up the new Effervescent rainbow Assault Rifle pretty early on and its a ripper! Seems to drop at random compared to other stories where people have got it. Occaisonal standout rare items worth $60000+. Sort-of midgame level weapons so far, topping out at $10000 as is the level of the enemies. But the main thing is - LOOT! Still there, but Im not picking up anything memorable. The humor is still there and there are enough side missions to satisfy in the short playing time. However that is not what you are playing for.
The story is secondary, vaguely similar to the General Knoxx DLC in the first Borderlands game, with a lighter zombie vibe than the Dr Ned DLC.
I had fond memories of the original game, and so far - Im on Chapter 5 - it more than matches the other, better DLCs for the game.
